Working on detailed 25 point check (including customer/ fish history) we look at vector relationships between fish pathogen and environment to make you aware of the reasons why your fish became unwell. With sick Koi and coldwater fish it is necessary to remove any instigator before an appropriate course of action is offered.
With all the necessary facilities to provide a prompt, professional and detailed on-site investigation, our diagnosis and husbandry taught methods ensure a lower future cortical response to fish. Managing water is often the solution to minimising problems regarding fish keeping. We lecture on the importance of carrying out basic tests and we do a more detailed analysis of your water on site.
We look at toxicity issues that may be upsetting your fish and consult on the overall performance of your recirculation system and ways you can improve your pond to the benefit of your fish.
With a lot of experience in the debridment and topical treatment of wounds we can provide services for this, treating and showing you the best methods to treat ulcers and provide assistance with micropsy if wished. For major bacterial problems a swab will be taken and sent for analysis to ensure the fish are given the appropriate antimicrobial.
All medicines administered or applied to your fish will conform to the Veterinary Medicines Directorate. Antibiotics are only recommended in severe cases but are sometimes required to protect the welfare of the animal. Swabs of the surrounding lesion are taken and sent for pathology. This will ensure that the microbe is sensitive to the antibiotic used. Whilst waiting for the sensitivity test, we will address causative issues and rectify environmental problems before antimicrobials are administered (subject to entrustment). This is a professional approach to reducing the cortical response when dealing severe bacterial ulcerations. In severe cases you may only get one chance.
